A job interview is a chance to show an employer why you are the right person for the job. Many candidates prepare only by listing their skills, but the strongest applicants also research the company in advance. Knowing what the company does and what it values allows you to connect your experience to its real needs.

Preparation should also include practice. Common questions such as "Tell me about yourself" or "Why do you want this job?" deserve clear, honest answers. Practising aloud, perhaps with a friend, helps you speak more smoothly and reduces nervousness on the day.

First impressions matter. Arrive a little early, dress appropriately, and greet everyone politely. During the interview, listen carefully, take a moment to think, and answer with specific examples rather than general claims. Employers remember stories that show what you actually did and learned.

Finally, remember that an interview is a two-way conversation. It is your chance to learn whether the job truly suits you. Asking a thoughtful question about the role or the team shows real interest. After the meeting, a short thank-you note leaves a positive, professional impression.
